• Mountainside Clubs

     

    Mountainside's many clubs are a fantastic way to connect with your fellow classmates over topics you love! Or maybe try something new to see if it appeals to you. Either way, you will be enriching your Cougar experience!


NJHS

  • The Mountainside Middle School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an international student organization for 8th graders. To be considered for the honor of membership, applicants must reach the five standards, which include leadership, citizenship, character, service and scholarship. Requirements include maintaining a high grade point average of 3.85, participation in National History Day Contest and various essay contests and becoming good citizens (by participating in service projects).

Science Olympiad

  • Science Olympiad is an academic competition consisting of 23 team events relating to science and engineering. Events change every year but focus on genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation. Practice is held after school on Tuesday’s beginning in October. Applications are available in the office.

Jazz Band

  • Jazz Band meets before school and is directed by Mountainside band director Mark Winans. There are three bands; one each for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Jazz Band begins in November and meets weekly through April. There will be several performance opportunities, including Jazz on the Mountainside. Please see Mr. Winans for more information and fees.

Robotics

  • Robotics Club meets every Monday after school in room 506 (the Design lab).  Applications available in the front office or from Mr. Reinhart.  The club is open to all 6-12 grade students interested in robotics/coding.  Feel free to see Mr. Reinhart or come to our first meeting to find out more information.
