Leap Ahead in January for SUSD’s 2024-2025 School Year
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (December 20, 2023) – The holiday season may be upon us, but Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) is already planning ahead for the 2024-2025 school year, with multiple opportunities available in January for families with young learners.
Parents who will be enrolling first-time students can get them off to the perfect start with SUSD’s Community Education programs. The district’s learning opportunities cater to the unique needs of 2-year-olds, preschoolers and pre-kindergarten students. Priority online registration for SUSD early learning programs runs from January 10 – 17, 2024, but registrations will continue to be accepted after that. January also kicks off the district’s second set of Kindergarten Roundup events at 14 elementary schools and three K-8 schools. SUSD is proud to open the doors of its kindergarten classrooms during the month, and again in late February/mid-March, to give families a taste of the amazing teaching and learning that takes place there every day of the school year. As a reminder, incoming kindergarteners for the 2024-2025 school year must be five years old by September 1, 2024. Find the complete Kindergarten Roundup schedule at https://www.susd.org/kindergarten.
Lastly, parents who believe their student may be suited for the rigors of SUSD’s Comprehensive Gifted Program (CGP) are invited to tour its classrooms in January, as well as in March and May. Multiage elementary and middle school CGP classrooms are designed for highly gifted learners who need a more rapid pace, with the opportunity for radical acceleration, as well as enrichment opportunities. The CGP program operates in three SUSD learning communities: Arcadia, Desert Mountain and Saguaro. The CGP program at Tavan Elementary leads to the CGP program at Ingleside Middle School; the Redfield Elementary program leads to the Desert Canyon Middle School program; and the Kiva Elementary program leads to the program at Mohave Middle School. Kindergarten CGP applications for the 2024-2025 school year can be submitted starting January 8; the application for grades 1-8 is open now. Read more about the SUSD CGP at https://www.susd.org/CGP. From our littlest learners to our high school graduates, SUSD empowers all students to create their foundational education journey to future success.
