How can I set a spending limit or add a notation to my child’s meal account?

Posted by SUSD Communications on 10/18/2023

As a parent, you may want to make notations on your student’s account, such as spending limits and how often your child may purchase à la carte items.  Requesting a limit or a notation is simple and can be done as follows:

Daily Spending Limits

  • Simply email Nutrition Services with your request for a pre-set spending limit to amorgan@susd.org or call our office at 480-484-6234.
  • Some information to know before setting a limit:
    • The limit is a daily limit and not by meal period, so remember to add breakfast to that daily limit, should your child wish to eat breakfast with us.
    • Meal costs are as follows:
      • Elementary Breakfast - $1.50
      • Elementary Lunch - $2.85
      • MS/HS Breakfast - $1.75
      • MS/HS Lunch - $3.10
  • Do you want to add an additional amount to allow for some à la carte snack purchases?
  • Please inform your student that a limit has been set in order to avoid any confusion at the cafeteria register.

Please note that parents could previously login to their parent portal account to set up a spending limit.  With the new LINQ Connect portal, we have disabled that option because the way it is configured was confusing and many parents have unintentionally set the limit to zero.  We will revisit the option again, should LINQ make some revisions for us that add clarity and lessen confusion. In the meantime, SUSD Nutrition Services is happy to add those limits for you!

Notations to Account

  • Simply email Nutrition Services with your request for an account notation to amorgan@susd.org or call our office at 480-484-6234.
  • Notations can be made for items such as “No breakfast,” “White milk only,” “No à la cartes,” “À la carte purchases on Mon and Wed only,” etc.
  • Student Allergies MUST be documented through your school Nurse and Nutrition Services before we can add that as a notation to your student’s account.

New LINQ Account or New Password Trouble?

Having trouble logging into your new LINQ Connect account on your phone and getting kicked back to the beginning after you enter your new password?  We were, too!  After reaching out to LINQ, we received a very simple tip that solved the issue immediately.

It appears the mobile site often cuts off the “Acceptance of Terms” box while in portrait mode.  Simply turn your phone screen from portrait orientation to landscape, and the box to accept terms will appear.
