Summer EBT
We are pleased to share that the Summer Electronic Benefit, or Summer EBT, will again be offered this summer to those students who qualify. Eligible SUSD students (see eligibility below) will receive a one-time payment of $120. The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) will begin issuing those benefits in the fall.
It is very important that families submit an application for free or reduced meals before the end of the current 2023/2024 school year and have that application approved no later than the last day of school on May 23, 2024. Applications will not be accepted after 4 p.m. on May 23rd.
Apply online here.
- To be eligible for Summer 2024 EBT, students must be enrolled in an SUSD brick-and-mortar site in May 2024 and be determined eligible for free or reduced-price meals by the last day of the academic school year. Students enrolled in Scottsdale Online are not eligible, as defined by the regulation set forth by the USDA.
- Students who previously received Summer EBT should keep those cards. If they become eligible for the Summer 2024 EBT, DES will just add the benefits to those cards.
- Newly eligible children or those who lost their Summer 2023 EBT card will be mailed a card in the child’s name, not the parent/guardian’s name. For each newly eligible student, DES will mail a new EBT card to the mailing address as provided by the school district.
- It is HIGHLY recommended that the parent/guardian update all address, email and phone information with their school’s registrar so DES has the correct information to match and send benefits to eligible families.
For eligibility inquiries prior to receiving benefits, please contact Nutrition Services at 480-484-6234.
For more information about the Summer EBT program, please contact the DES EBT Hotline at 844-841-3802.
Earth Day April 22nd Is “Make It a Rainbow” Day
April is Earth Month, which is a wonderful time to celebrate the bounty of fruits and vegetables we are able to grow in our state and enjoy at SUSD Cafeterias year-round. On Earth Day, April 22nd, our elementary school cafeterias will celebrate and honor our planet by hosting “Rainbow Day,” a vibrant showcase of nature’s colorful food offerings. Keep an eye out for grapes, peaches, bell peppers, strawberries, tangerines and more!
In SUSD, we’re proud to highlight produce grown on Arizona farms! Did you know that the Yuma, Arizona area supplies 90% of the leafy vegetables grown in the United States from November to March? It’s rightly hailed as “America's Winter Lettuce Capital”!
